Fine Arts

Little Hands Learning Center students participate in dance class weekly and the dance classes are taught by a certified dance instructor.  Dance promotes improved physical health, psychological health and maturity in children because students enjoy the opportunity to express their emotions and become aware of themselves and others through creative movement. Dance practice also increases children’s flexibility, range of motion, physical strength and stamina. In addition, dance helps improve socialization and communication skills. Students learn how to work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of trust and cooperation and helps reduce anxiety. Dance can also help to alleviate fears related to performing in front of an audience.

Music lessons are offered to all Little Hands Learning Center students between the ages of 6 weeks and 6 years of age. Music helps spark creativity in young children and helps develop an appreciation for the arts in addition to igniting all areas of child development: intellectual, social and emotional, language, motor and overall literacy. Music helps the body and the mind work together, helps young children learn the sounds and meanings of words, and aids in strengthening their memory skills.

Note: Dance and Music class is not only fun for Little Hands Learning Center students, but both music and dance instruction helps develop critical thinking skills, allows children to become comfortable in their own skin, improves their confidence and self-esteem, helps foster a more positive attitude and allows children to explore their own self-expression.
